End of Year 1

So below are the pictures of the 10th project I had done in my year 1.
We were assigned to design a cafe near Queensbay Mall.
The site is a newly developed area which is located near to a river.

I have decided to infuse Baba Nyonya concept into my design because I was assuming my client were to build a cafe with Baba Nyonya theme.
(Good imagination aight?Hehe) =3
Nevertheless, my design is still pretty minimalist and I'm applying simple geometrical and contemporary element onto it.

Firstly, the design is inspired by the shape of Phoenix ( to symbolize Chinese culture in Baba Nyonya background) and traditional Malay House ( (to symbolize Malay culture ).
As we know,
  1. Peranakan Chinese and Baba-Nyonya are terms used for the descendants of the 15th through 17th-century Chinese immigrants to the Malay archipelago and British Malaya (now Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore).

End

Following pictures are the boards I did (yes by manual again) for the last project for my Year 1.
We have to design a retreat house for our my family and the proposed site is located at Malacca.
Thus far, we had a studio trip to Malacca before kicking start the design.
Sorry guys, I left my poor baby camera at home and therefore limited pictures are available .:(
The view of our resort.Very comforting place with cute chalets.
Part of our visit at the Malay traditional house village.
Last but not least, the view of the Malacca river.

However, I can say that Malacca is still pretty amazing even though I have been there for tonnes of times,
In fact, it is getting better with lots of great development and also preservation of the old historical town.

For my design, I decided to use pigeon as my inspiration.
As you can see it has a big asphalt roof and the columns are extended to the ground.
The main reason is  that  I want to make the occupants to feel sense of belong and ground to earth.
With that, I believe it makes them feel relax since it's supposed to be their retreat house?

Well, it has car porch, nice breathe taking sea view (our site is located right across the beach) , swimming pool, living room, family room, kitchen , toilet, storeroom and 3 bedrooms.

End.
